Full job descriptionThe Power Plant Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of power generation systems. This includes monitoring and controlling power plant equipment to ensure optimal performance, conducting routine inspections, and maintaining regulatory compliance.Key Responsibilities:Operate and monitor boilers, turbines, generators, and auxiliary equipment.Adjust controls to generate specified electrical power or to regulate the flow of power.Monitor power plant equipment and indicators to detect evidence of operating problems.Perform routine checks and inspections of machinery and systems.Maintain logs of operation, maintenance, and safety activities.Identify and troubleshoot operational issues and take corrective actions.Conduct regular maintenance and minor repairs on equipment as needed.Comply with safety, environmental, and operational policies and procedures.
Responsibilities & skills
Knowledge of electrical generation, plant equipment, and safety standards.Ability to read and interpret gauges, instruments, and technical manuals.Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.Willingness to work shifts, weekends, or emergency call-outs as needed.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certifications in power plant operations or mechanical/electrical fields preferred.
