Job description
The Research Ethics Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the assessment and review of research applications submitted to the Ottawa Health Science Network Research Ethics Board (OHSN-REB). The Research Ethics Coordinator works with Board Members, Chair (Vice-Chairs) and REB Manager to facilitate researchers to obtain and maintain ethics approval for human participant research in accordance with policies, procedures, national and international guidelines, and applicable regulations. The Research Ethics Coordinator provides support and assistance to the researchers and their teams to help facilitate the REB process.
Responsibilities & skills
Knowledge and understanding and compliance with the current Tri-Council Policy Statement Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans (TCPS2), the International Council for Harmonisation of Technical Requirements for Pharmaceuticals For Human Use Good Clinical Practice Guideline (ICHGCP E6(R2), and Health Canada/U.S. Food and Drug Regulations, as applicable.
Education
Familiarity with clinical research environmentComprehensive understanding of applicable guidance, policy and regulations governing human research ethics

The Ottawa Hospital
Starting July 1, 2018, all candidates must have completed the Ottawa Hospital Environmental Services certificate in order to be considered for this position. You can register for this course at any time and complete the e-learning modules at your own pace. The e-learning modules are free to members of the public. There will be two practical training days following the completion of the e-learning modules at a cost of 100$ per person. After completing the modules and practical experience, learners will receive a certificate of completion that must be included in your application.
