The Fraunhofer IST offers an attractive working environment in highly innovative key sectors. We are an innovative partner for research and development in surface technology with expertise in the associated product and production systems. The aim is to develop tailor-made and sustainable solutions - from prototypes to economical production scenarios and scaling to industrial standards. The "Optical and Electrical Systems" group has the task of scaling up switchable thermochromic layer systems to an industrially relevant size in a publicly funded project. The homogeneity of the coating, the stoichiometry and the thermally induced switching behavior within the area must be guaranteed. For this purpose, control concepts for sputter deposition and characterization methods are being developed and tested as part of the project.
