Job Description
An international collaboration of astroparticle physicists has come together to realize a major goal: the construction of the Pacific Ocean Neutrino Experiment (P-ONE), a new, several cubic kilometer detector to observe high-energy neutrinos in the Pacific Ocean. The project builds on the infrastructure of Ocean Networks Canada, a research facility at the University of Victoria that operates an approximately 800 km long deep-sea observatory off Canada's west coast. In recent years, two reconnaissance experiments have recorded site conditions on the seabed. The findings have been incorporated into the optimization of the design of P-ONE. The first detector prototype is currently under construction, the development of which is funded with an ERC Advanced Grant. The constantly growing collaboration of P-ONE currently includes around 100 scientists from universities and institutes in Canada, Germany, Poland, Great Britain and the USA. The project manager is Prof. Elisa Resconi from the TUM School of Natural Sciences in Garching, where the workplace is also located.
