Job Description
The Fraunhofer IGB develops and optimizes technologies and processes for the business areas of health, nutrition, the environment as well as sustainable and functional products. The IGB always strives for scientific excellence at the highest level - combined with broad, practice-oriented technical know-how. Our strength lies in our proven ability to integrate a variety of technical disciplines to deliver new, economical, efficient and sustainable solutions for customers and partners. The Fraunhofer IGB is one of 74 institutes and independent research facilities of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, Europe's leading organization for applied research. With the branch of the Fraunhofer IGB in Upper Swabia/Biberach/Ulm, one of the world's leading regions for the development and production of biopharmaceuticals, a new center for virus-based therapies is being created, funded by the state of Baden-Württemberg. Viruses and viral vectors represent highly innovative therapy options for diseases such as genetic defects or cancer that cannot be treated or can only be treated insufficiently. Virus-based therapeutics differ significantly from conventional drugs in terms of both composition and mode of action. Therefore, completely new methods have to be developed for their production and to prove their function and efficacy. Exactly this strategy is pursued by the Virus-Based Therapies branch office, located in Biberach at the heart of the BioPharma Cluster South Germany, which strengthens the solidarity between basic research at the University of Ulm and University of Applied Sciences Biberach as well as industrial application.
