Overview:The Role:We're hiring a Principal Data Platform Engineer reporting to the Engineering Manager for the Internal Analytics Platform. You are an expert Cloud Engineer/SRE with expertise across a range of infrastructure technologies e,g AWS, Kubernetes.You will join the team that oversees Socrates, Atlassian's internal data lake. The team is comprised of people with backgrounds in Data, Infrastructure and Software Engineering. The team owns everything from networking through to data engineering tooling. Our mission is provide a world-class Analytics Platform for Atlassian's data teams.The team has just finished building our a metadata driven internal data platform. This is an enormous initiative and a unique opportunity within Australia. The team is now turning its focus towards enabling the migration of Atlassian's 1000's of data assets to the new platform.The team is constantly evolving the platform and evaluating the mix of supported big data technologies. We are expecting to invest in the use of Kubernetes as a platform substrate so experience managing and scaling applications on Kubernetes is important.If you are passionate about cloud technologies, data platforms, and want to help set the direction of data at Atlassian then we want to hear from you.Note that this is not a Data Engineering role.
